Merco Local collects information on our users in various ways, such as, by your voluntary submissions, participation in services provided via the Site and Services, from third parties, and through cookie and other tracking technology. Merco Local collects the following information:
When you visit or use our Sites and applications, we automatically collect and store information about your computer or mobile device and your activities. This information may include, but is not limited to:
Your computer’s IP address;
Technical information about your computer or mobile device (such as type of device, web browser or operating system);
Your preferences and settings (time zone, language, etc.);
Your mobile device’s unique ID number;
Your mobile device’s geographic location (specific geographic location if you’ve enabled collection of that information, or general geographic location automatically);
The URL of the last web page you visited before coming to our Properties;
The search terms you have looked up and results you selected;
Communications between you and other users or merchants through our Properties;
The ads you clicked on;
How long you visited our Properties and which services and features you used; and
For App users, the online or offline status of your App.
You may choose to create an account and provide us with information in order to use certain services or to take advantage of special offers. This information may include your name, email address, phone number, credit card information (including billing address), and demographic information (age, gender, etc.). You may provide this information directly to us or you may chose to register using your Facebook or Twitter account in which case you would authorize us to access certain Facebook or Twitter profile information including, but not limited to, your first name, last name, gender, birth date and email address. You may choose not to provide us with any personally identifiable information, such as by not registering for an account on our Site or applications or connecting to our Site or applications with your Facebook account. However, if you don’t provide certain information, you will not be able to use some of the services we offer.
We use your information to provide and improve our services, to diagnose and fix problems, and to better understand our users so that we may provide you with a more effective user experience, customize services for you (such as by remembering your preferences), present tailored offers to you, process and complete your transactions, track redemption of any vouchers you may have purchased from us, make special offers. We may use your email address to allow you to log in to your account, send you notifications regarding your account, send you confirmations (of your registration, purchase, etc.), send you messages as part of our services and to send you newsletters. We may also use your email address to respond to your customer service inquiries. Your mobile phone numbers and credit card information are used only for providing you the services you requested.
We may also share your information with other companies for various reasons. What information we make available to other companies depends on the nature of our relationships with them. We generally require these other companies to keep our users’ information confidential.
Service Providers: We may share all of the types of information we collect with vendors who provide services (such as voice transcription, email and SMS messaging, and payment processing and collection), conduct surveys, and run sweepstakes on our behalf. In addition, in connection with any purchase of our products or services, we may share information we collect from or about you with credit bureaus and similar organizations as permitted by law.
Advertisers: Advertisers and advertising networks use tracking technologies to collect information about users’ computers or mobile devices and their online activities (for example, web pages visited and searches made) as well as general geographic location and use that information to display targeted ads to users. We sometimes allow these ad companies to collect such information when you use our Properties to enable them to display targeted ads to you. These companies as well as data analytics companies who service them may collect information, such as your computer’s IP address, browser information, mobile device ID, and search queries, as you use our services. They also may use web technologies such as cookies and pixel tags to collect data about you when you visit our site.
Analytics Companies: We may allow analytics companies to use tracking technologies to collect information about our users’ computers or mobile devices and their online activities. These companies analyze this information to help us understand how our Properties are being used.
Aggregated Information: We may publicly disclose aggregated information about our users, such as the total number of our users and their demographics.
Legal Matters: We may use or disclose user information: in response to a legal request, such as a subpoena, court order, or government demand; to comply with the law; in connection with a threat of litigation; to investigate or report illegal activity; to protect the legal rights of Merco Local, our customers, our Properties or users of our Properties; or to enforce our rights or defend claims. We may also transfer your information to another company in connection with a corporate restructuring, such as a sale or merger.
Our Sites and applications are not intended for use by children under the age of thirteen (13). We do not knowingly allow children under the age of thirteen (13) to register for any service, and we do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of thirteen (13).
Facebook and Twitter: If you are logged into Facebook, and you access but are not logged into the Site, we may receive information from Facebook to make it easier for you to create an account on the Site and show you relevant content from your Facebook friends. This information personalizes your experience and helps you create a Merco Local account.
The information Merco Local collects is used in a variety of ways, including
for internal review;
to improve the Site and Services;
to optimize third-party offers of products and/or services;
to verify the legitimacy of reviews and ratings;
to notify you about updates to the Site and Services;
to let you know about products, services, and promotions that you may be interested in;
to get reviews and ratings;
for our marketing purposes and the marketing of discounts offered through our Site and Services by service contractors or health care related providers (collectively "Service Providers");
to fulfill and provide products and services, including personalized or enhanced services, requested by you; and
internal business analysis or other business purposes consistent with our mission.
We do not disclose Personal Information to third parties, except when one or more of the following conditions is true:
We have your permission to make the disclosure;
The disclosure is consistent with the purpose for which the personal information was obtained;
The disclosure is to financial service providers in order to fulfill and carry out the purchase and provision of goods and services requested by you;
The disclosure is permitted by relevant law;
The Personal Information to be disclosed is publicly available;
The disclosure is reasonably related to the sale or other disposition of all or part of our business or assets;
The disclosure is for our own marketing purposes, or, with your authorization, for the marketing purposes of third parties;
The party to whom the disclosure is made controls, is controlled by, or is under common control with Merco Local;
The disclosure is in our sole discretion necessary for the establishment or maintenance of legal claims or legal compliance, to satisfy any law, regulation, subpoena or government request, or in connection with litigation;
The disclosure is in our sole discretion about users who we believe are engaged in illegal activities or are otherwise in violation of our Merco Local Membership Agreement, even without a subpoena, warrant or court order; or
The disclosure is to outside businesses to perform certain services for us, such as maintaining our Site and Services, mailing lists, processing orders and delivering products and services, sending postal mail, processing claims for lost or stolen certificates, providing marketing assistance, and data analysis ("Administrative Service Providers").
Prior to sharing of your Personal Information with others, agreements are made between Merco Local and such outside parties to whom we are transferring data. If Merco Local becomes aware that any such outside party is improperly using or disclosing Personal Information, it will notify that outside party and request that it take reasonable steps to cease such use or disclosure.
We may also disclose aggregate visitor data in order to describe the use of the Site and Services to our existing or potential business partners or other third parties, or in response to a government request. We may also share aggregated demographic and preference data with third parties to enable the provision of targeted information, promotions, offers and/or discounts on products and services.
