Lockhart's Cowtown Sip, Stroll & Art Walk
Lockhart Cowtown Sip, Stroll and Art Walk is set for Saturday, April 1, 2017. Music and activities for children are from 1 – 4, with the wine stroll and art walk from 4 -7:30 p.m. in the Lockhart Historic Downtown District. Goals of the event are to promote the community throughout the region, to promote awareness of local businesses, and to provide entertainment for the day in and around Lockhart’s beautiful courthouse square.
Many businesses and restaurants will be offering special prices to stroll participants. An assortment of Texas wines and craft beers will be available for tasting as well as food samplings, including quail, barbecue, and chili. Local restaurants and food trucks will promote their specialties. Art will be displayed throughout the downtown business district, museums, and art gallery. New to the event this year will be the activities and music for children. Each $25 donation for Downtown Revitalization receives a Cowtown Stroll commemorative wine glass, a Chuck Wagon bracelet for food samplings, and ten tickets for wine and beer samplings.
Aaron Allen, a Texas singer songwriter with acclaims including a number one hit (Truth Number One) with Willie Nelson, will open with music at 1pm under the big tent. He has written over 1,100 songs and has been recorded by every major record label. He was the voice of radio station WOAI (San Antonio) and gave Johnny Cash his first radio interview. Other performers will be joining Aaron for a musical tribute to him. Also performing will be Texas singer-songwriter Adam Carroll. Adam is an engaging Americana guitar picker who has earned critical acclaim with song placement in the Grammy nominated film "Country Strong" and others.
Proceeds from Stroll events are used for downtown and community revitalization, including highway landscaping, cleanup events, and other beautification projects throughout the community. Mayor Lew White encourages all citizens to support the Downtown Revitalization Initiative through the efforts of these businesses, restaurants and volunteers. He sends his thanks to those in leadership for bringing this fine event to the community, as well as the many volunteers and businesses for making this event a reality.
